Position â€" Engineering Manager

Location â€" Chennai

ROLE:

As an Engineering Manager, you will direct a team of highly motivated developers in the delivery of great products to our customers. You will manage the complete product development cycle, from design through product release. You will foster a strong and effective team atmosphere in your staff and utilize your knowledge of agile software development methodologies, processes, and technologies to lead the next releases of our products. We are looking for a results-oriented manager who has experience delivering projects under tight deadlines and high pressure with limited resources.
Most importantly, we’re looking for an engineering manager who has hands-on technology skills.

You will:

- Manage a team of developers and coordinate with the work of others (such as Test and Operations) to deliver high-quality products on schedule.

- Work with Product Management to develop and execute project plans to meet product goals and milestones.

- Build a team that is focused and excited about the development of the product, that understands and supports the goals and plans, and that fosters a spirit of cooperation among its members.

- Hire, Motivate, and Mentor members of the staff to make them full contributors and to continue to build their skills.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Total industry experience of 3+ hands-on technology experience in a commercial software product company using technologies such as Java Client Server development, Java and Internet technologies, XML, and J2EE and/or other application server technologies, database systems (Relational databases such as Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, etc), file systems, OS kernels and/or related systems.

- 2+ years experience with managing product development projects and people (team size of at least 6).

- Expertise in two or more of these fields is mandatory: Databases / Web-scale / Distributed Computing / Web Services

- Must have shipped at least 2 commercial products through multiple releases.

- Experience with design, development and deployment of scalable and deployable platforms in a UNIX environment.

- Proven ability to direct the activities of others in planning, organizing, scheduling, monitoring and evaluating.

- Results oriented with proven planning and project management skills â€" experience using project scheduling and management tools to manage large complex projects to completion on schedule.

- Excellent recruiting, motivating, mentoring skills

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills required

- Commitment to customer satisfaction.

- B.Engg/BS degree in Computer Science or related field

- Some travel may be required

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Experience evangelizing architectural design patterns and approaches is a huge plus

- Configuration management systems.

- Maven, SVN, Git, Jira, Continuous Integration (Jenkins/Hudson).
