APCFSS - Senior Database Administrator - Java/J2EE (12-18 yrs) (Andhra Pradesh Centre for Financial Systems)

APCFSS is looking for SR. DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR, who are willing to work on FREELANSING / CONSULTANT basis

Andhra Pradesh Centre for Financial Systems and Services (APCFSS) was set up by the Government of Andhra Pradesh (GoAP) as a Section 8 company in 2016. APCFSS has developed and manages the Comprehensive Financial Management System (CFMS), which is a Government-wide enterprise suite covering the financial transactions of all the Departments of the GoAP. CFMS has been developed leveraging the latest ERP tools from SAP.

Besides CFMS, APCFSS designs, develops and maintains mission-critical IT (Web & Mobile) applications and provides Governance Consulting and Project Management services for various Departments and Agencies of the GoAP.

As part of our strategic business transformation program, which aims to standardize our major business processes globally, we are searching for experience and focus on Database Administration.

Purpose:

The Main purpose of this job is to develop & maintain the applications to nodal departments of GoAP. Implement software development skills using new and improved technological tools and techniques for the development of the organization.

Database Administration :

Purpose :

The Main purpose of this role is to Manage, direct and coordinate the team of Database Administration in Enterprise DB Postgres to design, deliver, explore and maintain IT solutions in the domain of Data Base management; the role requires continuous improvement of the Data base system supporting the current (future) needs of IT application through processing like data base designing, tuning/DB Replication technology up gradation/migration/crisis management/data recovery etc across all units of APCFSS

Roles & Responsibilities:

- Coordinate & interact (on a regular basis) with Delivery and project managers to understand the Data base requirements and feasibility study

- Installation & Configuration, Schema handling, Database user roles and Security related permission, User creation, object Backup & Restore, Architect level Server security, PostgreSQL Index Management, PostgreSQL Partitioning and System Catalogues, Backup, Recovery and PITR on PostgreSQL & PostgreSQL Architecture.

- Monitoring disk usage, PGAdmin, Transferring Data, Moving Transaction Logs, Reliability and WAL, High Availability Failover Replication, DR Replication monitoring and configuration, Implementing Postgresql related tools, Writing shell script for Postgresql Database Performance tuning and Log Analysis.

- Plan & budget for the financial year on the improvement projects / new project developments (technology upgrades/Migrations) in DB by interaction with relevant teams and Units Heads to understand their future requirements in the area of Data Base Management, and thus finalize the scope, deliverables, timelines etc. for the projects.

- Working closely with Project leader, business analysts, designers and other team members throughout the SDLC and actively participate in discussions with team members in design, development and implementation.

- Ensure backup & restoration of data through organizing and coordinating the process of Crisis management & Disaster recovery systems.

- Ensure 24X7 customer support by managing the team for monitoring/troubleshooting of the serves/Data base systems on a routine basis in order to maintain the customer response time metrics as per SLA's. This also encompasses of coordinating with the vendors for the process of trouble shooting if required

Key Deliverables:

- Develop and Upgrade Databases: Primarily deliverable are creating new databases or upgrading existing databases. Perform maintenance on databases, check data accessibility and troubleshoot problems with new systems as needed.

- Install Security Software: Need to ensure that a company's data is protected from hackers and any breaches. Assess different types of security programs and choose which ones best suit the needs of the particular database they are overseeing.

- Evaluate Company Needs and Create Disaster Recovery Plans: In the event of an emergency, equip with disaster recovery plans to store and retrieve data. Test emergency data access plans and to ensure they are reliable and efficient.

- Develop To-Be Plan: Finally, use the analysis to make recommendations how a - to-be- process should look. Point out the requirements, suggest resources and changes, define a timeline, etc.

- Data generation, Data acquisition, Data collection, Data transmission, Data pre-processing, Data storage, Gap Analysis, Value-added Analysis

- Root Cause Analysis: Identify the obstacles that cause delay to certain processes & core reasons for a problem in database and find ways fix it. Work with other business analysts and members of Group Infrastructure to develop realistic solutions to business requirements, taking into account budgets, timescales and costs. Assist in integration and acceptance testing

Qualification:

- B.E./B.Tech/MCA with specialization in Computers/IT

- M.Sc in Computer Science/IT OR M. Tech/M.E/MS in Computer Science/IT

- Preferable from IIM, IIT, NIT, NIIT & Tire 1 and Tire 2 university & Colleges

Experience: Minimum 10-15 Yrs of experience out of which at least 10 years of experience in Database Development & Maintenance (preferred if has EDB Posgresql experience).

Skill Set:

- Expertise in Enterprise Data Base Postgres, PostgreSQL Index Management & Architecture

- Sound knowledge in Data Base management technologies ( including clustering/file systems/network areas etc)

- Knowledge and experience in Core Java/J2EE/Servlets/JSP/JavaScript, OOPS, Struts Framework is compulsory

- Ability to negotiate & manage vendors, Team Management Skills

- Analytical Skills, Communication Skills, Detail oriented & Problem Solving Skills

- Previous experience with DBA case tools (frontend/backend) and third party tools

- Familiarity with programming languages API

- Problem solving skills and ability to think algorithmically
